The hairs of my head turn to steel and join boards

tongue-in-groove

like lovers along dark lanes.

Drywall is rustling under cover

eager to slip over the studs at my desire.

When I tire, my breasts grow two cherry trees

that offer me shade, cool juices,

while the others suck bitter beans.

At the end of the day the boys are exhausted

from watching.

They fall at my feet and beg for a body like mine.

I’m too busy dancing to notice.

Summer Rites

All right you guys, you win!

Here’s one more

hell of a hot day

and you with your bare chests

have asked once too often

that stunningly witty question,

When will you take off your T-shirt, Kate?
